Members of the Cambridge swim team in our matching swim caps!

MBAT (aka MBA Tournament) is the largest gathering of MBA students in Europe, also known as the MBA Olympics. This year we had approximately 15 business schools gather at HEC Paris where over 1500 students competed in various competitions, from swimming to billiards to dance to trivia. I was asked to be the swim team captain for the Cambridge team at MBAT this year, which was very exciting! We had a total of 15 events, and we were the only school with matching swim caps.

The events were:

Women 100m Individual Medley, Men 100m Individual Medley, Women 50m Butterfly, Men 50m Butterfly, Women 50m Backstroke, Men 50m Backstroke, Women 50m Breaststroke, Men 50m Breaststroke, Women 50m Freestyle, Men 50m Freestyle, Women 400m Freestyle, Men 400m Freestyle, 4x50m Mixed Medley Relay, Women 4x50m Freestyle Relay, Men 4x50m Freestyle Relay

At first, it was tough trying to get people to sign up to participate, but on the day of the meet, we had more willing participants than we had spaces for! We also had a healthy mix of students and partners from various Cambridge Judge programs – full time MBA, MFin, as well as Executive MBA swimmers.

We had swimmers from all different levels, so it was great to see the team rally together and support one another. The swimming team brought in 69 points for Cambridge, the women’s team ended up winning second place overall, and I took home 5 medals!
